You should remember that the whole movie is in the point of view of this small group of people. It is more about them in new york city being attacked by a monster then the monster attack itself. It is very realistic, even the monster is realistic, except for the fact that it is a monster.

Also, the cammera is going to be shakey. Though, if you were running with a cammera, it would be shakey too.

The director mentioned that if there is a second movie, that it will be in the same time as the first, but will be seen through other people. Maybe it will aslo explain the monster.

I think the monster is pissed because it couldn’t be in the new Japanese Godzilla movie, if there is going to be one.
